We are more than Conqueror

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Rom.8:37) It is a scripture that is frequently used by believers and unbelievers alike. Yes, it is a language of confidence. A word that gives assurance of Christ Jesus to believer who is discouraged or who needs encouragement. It is an assurance of spiritual security, knowing that Jesus Christ is on the right side of God the Father interceding for us. (Rom.8:34) Satan cannot bring us to condemnation through any accusation. It affirms the fact that Satan does not have subjective power over believers of Christ and that the power of Satan’s deception is not effective to those who is entangled in the love of Christ. The troubles listed by Apostle Paul (Rom.8:38-39) are among those that the Satan uses to cause separation between believers and the love of Christ. They are lunched against the Christian by the forces of evil in an effort to discourage and separate believers from the love of Christ. Remember, it is the same trick used to cause the first Adam to sin against God which led to separation from God. It therefore proofed the fact that most of the troubles faced by believer are orchestrated by Satan to separate believer from the love of Christ. But the fact remains that the power of God within the Christians is greater than Satan’s power. (1 John.4:4) Those who believe this can have confidence for they trust in the power of the gospel. Jesus has not only conquered sin and death but has also conquered the troubles of the world through which He has made His peace available to believers. (John.16:33) This achievement becomes a victory that provided freedom from the fear of death. Therefore, nothing of this world can separate believer from the love of Christ. It is ironic that many do not realize the fact or refuse to believe that Satan does not have the power to subject his will over believer of Christ. Satan can only exercise his will on believer that refuses to resist him. The word of God says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James.4:7) For one not to be overwhelmed by the trick of the devil, but to be more than conqueror, one has to resist the devil by drawing near to God, cleansing one’s hands of sin and purifying one’s heart. Then the power of Satan to exercise his will over that person is defeated, and the devil will flee. Remember he flee from Jesus. The Bible says, “Then the devil left Him.” (Matt.4:11a) The word “I am more than conqueror” must not just be a mere slogan. And for it not to be mere slogan, one’s heart must be spiritually and mentally renewed everyday with the word of the Gospel. One must be strong in the Lord Jesus and in the power of His might by putting on the whole armor of God that one may be able to stand against the manipulation of the devil. (Eph.6:10-11) And above all one must remain hopeful and be committed to the kingdom journey, straining towards what is ahead. (Phil.3:13) To anyone and everyone that needs encouragement at this moment, I urge you to encourage yourself with the powerful word of spiritual security. Tell it to yourself in faith, “Yet in all these things I am more than conqueror through Him who loved me.” It is sure that Jesus’s love is always active in the life of His people at every moment. You are therefore never separated from His love. Even in hardship, you are more than conqueror. May the good Lord give answers to our prayers in Jesus mighty name. Amen Evangelism To be partaker of the love of Christ, one must give his or her life to Him. Give your life to Jesus Christ today and be saved. Rev. Shobayo Kayode The Gospel Study Centre
