There is a popular hymn with the chorus “Jesus knows all about our struggles, He will guide till the day is done....” The hymn explains how much Jesus loves His people and how much He cares about their struggles with a life-long promise to continue to guide, protect and keep their company in their kingdom journey. Struggle according to the Oxford dictionary means a forceful or violent effort to get free of restraint or resist attack. Every struggle of believers has to do with the effort of the devil to steal the peace, joy, and love of God in their lives. The hymn is therefore expressing how much Jesus Christ is concerned about getting His people free from whatever could cause hindrance to the peace, joy and love of God in their lives. Jesus having passed through similar struggles knows how unbearable it could be and therefore is sympathetic and willing to guide us through. The Bible says, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrew.4:15) He was tempted by Satan. (Matt.4:1-11) His struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane before His crucifixion was so severe to the extent that an angel appeared from heaven to strengthen Him. (Luke.22:40-44) So, because He has passed through the struggle route, He knows all about it. This is a message of assurance that you are not alone in whatever struggle you are passing through. Jesus Christ who had passed through similar struggle is there with you. He is the answer to all disappointments and doubts because He is the power and wisdom of God (1 Cor.1:24) Remember Jesus calms the storm that threatens the boat in which He was traveling with His disciples. The disciples who were troubled as a result of the storm called on Jesus and Jesus calmed the storm. (Matt.8:23-26) The woman with the issue of the blood who proposed in her mind to touch the garment of Jesus did so and received Jesus’s attention and she was healed. (Matt.9:20-22), Jesus provided for the need of the people at a wedding ceremony in Cana of Galilee when the bridegroom ran out provision for his guests. (John.2:1-9) Jesus knows about all manners of struggles and He is willing to help. Brothers and sisters in Christ, even though Jesus knows about your struggle, He wants you to call on Him. Calling on Him in this dispensation is through prayer. A prayer made in faith. The Bible says, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord” (James.1:6-7) He has assured you of His divine companionship and protection when He promised never to leave nor forsake you. So, when you call on Him in faith, He will actively respond and will help you overcome your struggle. Jesus remains a wonderful friend, He knows all about your struggles and He will guide you till the day is done. May you allow Him to guide you in your struggle in Jesus mighty name. Amen Song: “Jesus knows all about our struggles, He will guide till the day is done. There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus. No, not one! no not one!” Evangelism Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and He will always be with you. Rev. Shobayo Kayode The Gospel Study Centre
