Every believer wants to experience miracle in their lives aside from the greatest miracle of Salvation they have received. They want direct divine intervention of God in the various aspects of their lives in addition to the transformation from their spiritual death to becoming a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ. However, as faith precedes salvation, it motivates miracle. The Bible supports the fact that faith motivates miracle as shown in the story of a cripple man that received healing in Lystra. (Acts.14:9-10) The Bible says, “Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed.” Jesus teaches also that it takes faith for the agent of God to perform miracles. He explains this to His disciples when He told them that they could not heal the demon possessed boy because of their unbelief. (Matt.17:20) The Bible affirms that Jesus’ miracles provided proof that He was sent from God. (Acts.2:22) His miracles manifest His authority over nature, disease, demon, death and as the Messiah and the Saviour. As much as Jesus’ miracles were not for sensationalism they sometimes lead to faith. For example, the father of the child who cried, “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief!” (Mark.9:23-24) The miracles of Jesus as could be seen in the Bible are essentially providing for the needs of the people, delivering them from oppression of the devil, healing them of various diseases and more importantly making them have confidence in the Lord. He encouraged His disciples not to be afraid but be of good cheer. (Mark.6:45-51) Faith in the Lord brings confidence to believers. It motivates believer to have active trust in the power and ability of God. Jesus taught that faith prompts God to respond to our requests by saying, “Your faith has made you well.” While God has unlimited power and can perform miracle the way and manner He wishes, it pleases Him to exercise His power in response to our faith. No wonder that Jesus adjudges some of His miracles to the faith of the recipients. To the sinful woman that was forgiven of her sins, (Luke.36-50) to the woman with the issue of blood, (Matt.9:20-22) to the leper that was cleanse, (Luke.17:11-19) and a blind man that receives his sight. (Luke.18:35-42) To them all, Jesus says, “Your faith has made you well.” This is because the faith came from them while the healing power came from Him. Dear brethren, as you eagerly look forward to receiving your miracles, you have to continuously work on your faith through regular reading and studying the Word of God, meditating on the promises of God, be obedient to the Word of God by putting the word into practice in your daily living. Above all, you have to be careful where you seek your miracle from and who you put your faith in. Jesus warns, “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Matt.24:24-25) Remember, faith precedes miracle, doubt hinders miracle. May your faith be sufficient to motivate your miracle to the glory of God in Jesus mighty name. Amen Evangelism. Jesus is willing to help your unbelief, give your life to Him to help you.
