The power of the Bible

Jesus Christ is the living Word. The Bible is the written word of God. It is the revelation from God. The truth of God. The Bible is divinely authoritative, infallible, and immutable. To clear any doubt that may arise in the minds of unbelievers and some believers alike, concerning the Bible as the true Word of God, the scripture says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2 Tim.3:16a) It goes further to say, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter.1:20 21) The scriptures explanation did not deny the involvement of men in the writing of the Bible. But the men were not mere men, they were holy men of God, chosen by God, to write the Word of God under the guidance of God the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the source of the knowledge of God. The scripture says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….” (Hosea.4:6) The knowledge referred to is the knowledge of the word of God. In the absence of the knowledge of the word of God, it will be impossible to keep the laws of God and obey His commandments. Consequently, it will be difficult to know God’s will and plan for one’s life. In addition to having the knowledge of the word, it is important to believe the Word. Jesus says “But there are some of you who do not believe.” (John.6:64) Believing the word of God in the Bible is most important, because the Bible is all about Jesus Christ through whom we know the Father. Jesus Christ attested to the fact that the entire Bible from Genesis.1:1 to Revelation 22:21 is about Him when He says, “These are the words which I spoke while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” (Luke.24:44) When we have the knowledge and believe the word in the Bible, we begin to learn about the goodness of God. As we learn about the goodness of God, our thinking is transformed by the power of God the Holy Spirit, and we begin to put the word into practice and our life begin to get better. Brethren, it is for our own good to seek the knowledge of God through His word as written in the Bible. This is because it is “living and powerful, and shaper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb.4:12) It means the written word in the Bible is a therapy that cures the illness of the body, soul and spirit. It is through the knowledge of it that the power in the Word will sanctify us and begin to work wonders in our lives. I pray in the merciful name of Jesus Christ that you receive the grace to be able to read the Bible daily, no matter how tight your schedule is.
