“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom.8:28) The word of God says, “to those that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”, Who are these ‘those’? The those are the ones that have received our Lord Jesus Christ and thereby have become the child of God. the scripture says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John.1:12). The scripture explains further that “Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself according to the good pleasure of His will.” (Eph.1:4-5). Those that love God are those who abides by His commandments. The scripture says “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandment. And His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John.5:3). The assurance that all things work together for the good is no doubt a blessing to the believers. The word of God assures that, no matter how difficult the situation may appear to be for a believer, there is the guarantee that God is going to work in it on behalf of the believer. God is assuring that even in hardship and suffering, when believer cannot understand why trials come, he can be rest assured that God will work in such situation to fulfil His good purpose for His glory. That is why he should not worry but be hopeful that everything will be all right, which is the purpose of God. Aside from the fact that God will make the outcome of an unclear and worrying situation become good for His purpose, such situation also helps believer to grow in faith. The more he grows in faith, the more mature in Christ he becomes. He is strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit that enables him to keep God’s commandments without difficulty. Knowing that God’s assurance is for those who love God, and the Bible has shown that obedience is the way to love God, believer should strive to be obedient to God at all times and in all circumstances. By doing so, he can be confident that God will surely make things for his good because He has said so. Let me conclude with the scripture that says, “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those that love Him.” (James.1:12).
