The scripture says, “If the axe is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength, but wisdom brings success.” (Ecclesiates.10:10) Wisdom is simply described as the application of knowledge. Knowledge is described as being aware of fact about something. It therefore means that wisdom is required to complement knowledge. The Bible describes wisdom as having the understanding to discern what is right, (1 Kings.3:11b) and calls it a wise and understanding heart. “Behold, I have done according to your words, see I have given you a wise and understanding heart…” (1 Kings.3:12a) King Solomon, due to his knowledge of God Almighty as one that has been with wisdom long before He made anything else (Prov.8:22), asked for God’s wisdom when he had the opportunity to ask for one thing. He puts that knowledge of God into action and requested for an understanding heart to judge the people of God (1 Kings.3:9). As a result of the Wisdom of God in him, he was able to achieve success. His judgement concerning two women and a dead baby has remained the most remarkable judgement ever in the history of mankind. (1 Kings.3:16-28) Solomon applied the wisdom of God and was successfully directed. You may be thinking about how to make success in your life endeavor, you need to seek knowledge to which the wisdom of God will direct. The scripture says, “The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge” (Prov.18:15) Therefore, you need to seek for requisite knowledge about your trade, business, talent or enterprise to which the wisdom of God will direct. You can seek knowledge through relevant trainings, courses, seminars, apprenticeship, discipleship etc., to which the wisdom of God can be applied to make success. Waiting for success without the knowledge to which the wisdom of God can be connected with, may not bring any tangible result. Brethren, the good news is that both the knowledge and wisdom of God is found in our Lord Jesus Christ. The scripture says, “In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col.2:3) He is also the Wisdom from God. “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God.” (1 Cor.1:30) True wisdom is in Jesus Christ who helps to sharpen the edge of our dull axe that brings success with less strength. As we do all the needful, Jesus directs and brings success. Our success will be sure if we live our lives in the counsel and wisdom of our lord Jesus Christ through the power of the holy Spirit in us. Evangelism True wisdom is in Jesus Christ.
