Let us sing a song of praise and thanksgiving for the Lord’s faithfulness as we enter into a New Year 2025. The psalmist says, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” (Psalm.100:4-5) Not withstanding what has happened in the year and years before, we need to offer the Lord the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call upon His name. (Psalm.116:17) From the rising of the sun to its going down, the Lord’s name is to be praised. (Psalm.113:3) God deserve our thanksgiving and praises for keeping us thus far. Thanking and praising God is expression of our delight in Him. He says He will grant our heart desires when we delight ourselves in Him. (Psalm.37:4) We express our delight in Him, by setting our heart on Him and intentionally committing all our plans to Him. Our delight in Him also expresses our trust and willingness to wait patiently for His will for us. In this New Year, may the grace to patiently wait for the will of God fall on us so much that when we ask, it will be given to us, when we seek, we will find and when we knock, it will be opened to us in the name of Jesus Christ. Thanking and praising God give us the privilege to make our request known to Him through our prayers and supplication. (Phil.4:6-7) In course of thanking God, we pray. When we pray, we entrust our care to Jesus Christ. (1 Peter.5:7) When we entrust our care to Christ, our heart experience the peace of God. The peace of God guards our heart from anxiety. When the peace of God fills our heart, we are able to think right. When our thinking is right, it creates right behavior in us. Right behavior attracts good things. May our right behavior attract good things to us in this New Year in Jesus name. Thanking God is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us. (1 Thess.5:18) It is the will of God that we give thanks in all circumstances no matter the situation. It pleases God when we praise and give thanks to Him. The scripture assures that, “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” (Prov.16:7) As long as our enemies are at peace with us, we have limited battle to fight. May the good Lord grant us the grace to continually make our ways pleasing to Him through our thanksgiving and praises in the New Year in Jesus mighty name. Thanking and praising God is a powerful and effective means that creates an environment for Him to manifest His awesome presence. (Acts.16:25-26) We need His awesome presence in our lives. May we never stray away from His presence as we enter into the New Year in Jesus mighty name. Amen Thanking and praising God is an expression of our hope in Him. The hope that does not disappoint because of His love that has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Rom.5:5) His hope for us is good, so also His plan for our future. (Jer.29:11) His love (mercy) that endures forever will continually be sufficient for us in the New Year and beyond in Jesus mighty name. I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year in Jesus name. Amen Evangelism Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one gets to the Father except through Him. (John.14:6) Embrace the truth, Jesus is the truth. Rev. Shobayo Kayode The Gospel Study Centre
