Let Jesus Christ fight your battle

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Ex.14:14) What a wonderful assurance from the word of God. Despite this wonderful promise of the word of God, many a time believers tend to prefer to fight their battles on their own strength by raining curses on their enemies in the name of Jesus. When we properly study the response of Jesus to His disciples in the Book of Luke.9:54-56, that the Son of Man has not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them, it is obvious that sending request to destroy one’s enemy in His name is null and void. Remember, He says, love your enemies. (Matt.5:44) One thing we should understand is that Satan is a battered enemy of God and by extension the sole enemy of every believer. Satan operates in many forms and images including as devil, demon, dragon, serpent and as enemy to fight the people of God. After the serpent deceived Eve, God put enmity between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman for the purpose of Redemption. (Gen.3:15) That is why life is presented as a spiritual battleground for believers. (Eph.6:12) But the good news is that believers have the assurance of God’s deliverance. Jesus prays for God to deliver us from evil (Matt.6:13) and to also keep us from the evil one (John.17:15) The Bible stories about Joshua and king Jehoshaphat serve as good examples to show that it pays to let the Lord fight our battles for us. Joshua lifted up his eyes to God when the people of Israel were hindered by the wall of Jericho. (Joshua 5:13-15) The wall was the enemy hindering them from entering into the land that God has given to them. Upon Joshua’s call to God, God took over the battle and the wall of Jericho fell. (Joshua 6:1-16) In a similar manner, the people of Judah led by King Jehoshaphat with his people went to God in prayer when they were overwhelmed by their enemies (2 Chronicles 20:12) God took over and won the battle on their behalf. (2 Chronicles 20:22-24) We can see that instead of deciding what one wants for his enemies, (to be destroyed) let him leave his battles for the Lord Jesus Christ to fight. Remember, Jesus Christ died for us, so fighting our battle is not a big deal. Brethren, let us pray to God to help us as we on our own begin to deliberately work on our self-control to truly surrender, depend, rely and put our trust in the Commander of the Lord’s army, our Lord Jesus Christ. He bruised the head of the Satan on Calvary and He is still doing that as He is sitting on the right hand of God interceding for us. Jesus Christ introduced Himself to Joshua as the Commander of the army of the Lord. (Joshua.5:14) He truly knows how best to deal with our enemies. He can handle our battles. We should let Him handle the battle, hand over the victory to us and we shall hold our peace. Evangelism Yield to the conviction of the Holy Spirit today. Believe in your heart and confess Jesus with your mouth and be save. Rev. Shobayo Kayode The Gospel Study Centre

May good Lord help us to yield to the instructions, totally handover our battles and challenges of life to him, waited patiently to see the victory at last.
