The word of God is full of not just ordinary power, but transforming power. The transforming power that brought into existence all that now exist. The Scripture says, the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Heb.11:3) It means that the physical world that now exist came into being out of nothing but through the transforming word of God. The Lord while expressing the power of His word says, “Is not My word like a fire? Says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jer.23:29) The word of God is also referred to as “the sword of the Spirit.” (Eph.6:17) The Bible asserted that the word of God is living and powerful, and shaper than any two-edged sword…. (Heb.4:12) Confirming that the word of God has the power to transform the heart, mind and life of a person. Apostle peter says, the word of the Lord endures forever. (1 Peter.1:25) Meaning that the word of God carries the same transformative power today as of the days of old. The word of God that makes someone to repent and receive forgiveness of sins that leads to a transformed life is the same transforming word we are to preach to save the lost. The Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John.1:1) One can now understand why the word of God is full of transformative power. Jesus Christ who is the living Word is the written Word. No wonder a man of the word of God says, “Our amount of faith is determined by our knowledge of the Bible”. He was trying to explain that the more of the word of God we know, the more of our faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ always expresses the fact that the faith of the recipient of miracle is essential to the miracle. His word always is “your faith has made you whole” It simply means that the person’s belief and trust in the transforming power of Jesus Christ is necessary to make the miracle happen. In the same manner, the fulfilment of the transforming power of the word of God in one’s life is dependent on one’s belief and trust in the Word. Brethren, now that we have been reminded that Jesus Christ is the Word, let us renew our believe in the word. The more we believe and put our trusts in the word, the more we will experience the transforming power of the word. We should endeavor to always believe the word of God as recorded in the Scriptures. There are so many words of God in the Bible that promises that He will always be with His people; (Deut.31:8; Isaiah.41:10; Heb.13:5) The promises are to give believers the boldness to live their lives in peace. The Bible says, “So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Heb.13:6) The passage of the scripture is assuring that whatever the situation or circumstances one finds himself, God is there together with him. It is when one believes the word as the truth that he can experience the power and can then boldly and truly say, the Lord is my helper. I will like to leave you with this transformative word of our Lord Jesus Christ. He says, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matt.11:29) May our souls find rest in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen Evangelism Believe in the transforming word of God (Jesus Christ) today that you may find rest for your soul. Shobayo Kayode The Gospel Study Centre
