There is this popular song, “He is a miracle working God x 2, He is the Alfa, and Omega, He is a miracle working God.” The song is a testimonial of the miracle works performed by our Lord Jesus Christ when He was with mankind in flesh. The Scripture says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts.10:38) His miracle work demonstrates His divine authority and His compassion that points mankind towards salvation. The miracle work of Jesus Christ affirms Him as the Messiah that was talked about in the Old Testament. The one who would come and bring an end to sin and death to the glory of God. (Isaiah. 61:1-3) The miracle work also expresses God’s concern for the physical and spiritual need of mankind; the same way He performed signs through Moses to set the children of Israel free from Egypt. (Ex.7:3-5) Jesus through His miracle works introduced and demonstrated the Kingdom of God. He says, “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.” (Matt.12:28) The miracles were an indication of the power and the presence of God. While the miracle work of Jesus Christ was and is still not discriminatory, it requires receiving and believing the Word of God. The Bible which is God’s Word consists of many promises covering every need of mankind. Concerning healing for example, the Bible says, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed, save me, and I shall be saved for You are my praise.” (Jer. 17:14) The word of God must be believed as received. Believing the word is allowing oneself to imagine the word coming to pass in one’s life and the imagination will cause faith to rise in one’s heart. Therefore, for one to experience the miracle work of Jesus Christ, one must believe the Word of God and be hopeful in the promises proclaimed therein. The woman with the issue of blood received the good news of Jesus Christ, she sought for Jesus and believed that by touching Jesus’ garment, she would be healed. She took the step of faith by touching Jesus’ garment and she received her healing. (Luke.8:43-47) Jesus responded to her effort thus: “Daughter, be of good cheer, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke.8:48) It clearly showed the faith that comes through believing the word of God as major requirement to receiving miracle. Jesus often emphasized the importance of faith in receiving miracles and the Bible established the fact that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom.10:17) The word of God reveals the promises of God, believing the promises of God without doubt enables one to take a step of faith that brings one’s miracle to life. The power of the word of God defined the ability to transform lives and speaking scriptures over one’s life does wonders to one’s life. Brethren, miracle happens when one believes the word of God through faith that cometh by hearing the word. It is therefore necessary you know the word, believe the word and put your faith into action. Praise the Lord!!! Evangelism Believe the word of God you have heard about Jesus Christ today, and you will receive the miracle of salvation. Jesus loves you. Rev. Shobayo Kayode The Gospel Study Centre
