The New Concise English Dictionary defined Vision as the ability or an instance of great perception, especially of future developments. Some see vision as a personal aspiration or goal. The Bible comprehensively describes vision as supernatural revelations given by God to individuals concerning the future. It serves as a means of divine communication between God and humans about a message for the future. For example, the Book of Revelation is a vision of the End Time. (The Second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ). The Book of Habakkuk gave insight into what is required to pursue vision rightly. Though Habakkuk's vision may be of spiritual concern, it is the same principle that is required to pursue personal vision. (Hab.2:1-4) First, Prophet Habakkuk positioned himself in prayer to see how God would respond to the case put forward to Him. Second, he waited to hear God’s reply to his request. Third, the prophet, having realised that his request was his perception with little or no understanding of the mind of God, was prepared to accept God’s correction. God, in His response, directed Habakkuk to write the vision and make it plain that others may read and understand it. God encouraged him to wait for it, even if it tarries. Finally, all that was highlighted in God’s response was hinged on Faith. “But the just shall live by his faith.’’ (Hab 2:4) While some see vision as a personal aspiration or goal, others see it as a divine gift or revelation. Whichever way, the process of seeking vision often involves aligning oneself with God. It requires faith in the Lord for it to manifest. One requires faith in Jesus Christ to pursue one's vision rightly. The Scriptures say, “Commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established.” (Prov.16:3) Faith means to trust in the Lord with all one’s heart and not to lean on one’s understanding, but to acknowledge Him, that He shall direct one’s path. (Prov.3:5-6). Faith is the foundation upon which one prays to God and believes that one’s prayer will be answered. Faith helps one to be patient, to wait and hear from the Lord, and to accept God’s correction. Brethren, for a vision to be pursued rightly, it must be based on faith and not on perception. It therefore requires seeking the face of God in prayer. The prayer may include asking for directions to acquire the required wisdom, knowledge and ability to drive the vision. The vision must be clearly visible and thoroughly understood by those who will be involved in its execution. The Scripture says, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets that he may run who reads it.” (Hab.2:2) The vision must not be rushed but must be patiently waited for. The Bible says, “Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.’’ (Habakkuk.2:3b) The waiting time is God’s action in progress. It is the time when the necessary amendments can be made. The Bible says, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Prov.19:21) A rightly pursued vision will meet God’s purpose and inspire others. May our vision tally with God's vision for our lives in Jesus' name. Amen Evangelism God's desire is for all people to be saved and to understand the truth about Him.
